I work with charities and public sector organisations, where research done badly means real people get let down.

Good research asks uncomfortable questions. It challenges what a team thinks it knows, reaches the people who are usually too hard to hear from and turns what it finds into something that actually changes decisions.

Charity and public sector projects run on tight budgets and tighter timelines. That means smart methodological choices, not cutting corners on what matters and reaching the right people, including those who are harder to access and those who use assistive tech.

I set the direction for the research practice at Torchbox: the methods we use, the standards we hold to, and how AI fits into both. I built the skills framework the wider team works from.

I use AI in my research practice, carefully and critically. I've also built two of the tools I use. I co-founded Sonar, an AI interviewer that reaches people traditional research can't. I'm also building a framework for judging AI-generated research properly. You can see both on my work page.

Research doesn't stop when the report lands. I work closely with designers, developers and content designers to make sure findings shape what actually gets built, not just what gets recommended. As AI changes how teams work, that kind of cross-disciplinary collaboration matters more than ever.
